SAMTEN HILLS | A SANCTUARY OF SILENCE & SPACE
– A project led by masters, realized with HAS Architecture

Nằm giữa cao nguyên Lâm Đồng, Samten Hills là một quần thể tâm linh hiếm có – nơi đạo, đời và kiến trúc gặp nhau trong một hình hài tĩnh lặng. Dự án được khởi xướng bởi Ngài Sonam Wangchuk Rinpoche, bậc thầy Phật giáo Kim Cương thừa, với tâm nguyện kiến tạo một không gian thiền định đậm tinh thần Tây Tạng giữa lòng Việt Nam.

Tại đây, HAS Architecture giữ vai trò đơn vị thiết kế chính, đồng hành xuyên suốt cùng các bậc thầy và chủ đầu tư – từ những phác thảo đầu tiên đến định hình không gian tổng thể.

Samten Hills là dự án gồm nhiều giai đoạn phát triển. Giai đoạn 1 đã hoàn thành, với công trình trung tâm là Đại Bảo Tháp Kim Cương, hiện giữ kỷ lục Guinness thế giới cho Bảo Tháp bằng đồng nguyên khối lớn nhất thế giới.

Kiến trúc tại Samten Hills theo đuổi triết lý “khoảng trống có nghĩa”, nơi ánh sáng, vật liệu và địa hình được dẫn dắt để tạo nên một hành trình nội tâm. Các công trình mang vẻ khiêm nhường, chọn cách ẩn mình giữa thiên nhiên với tường đất nện, mái dốc bản địa, đá thô và gỗ nguyên khối.

Đáng chú ý, Samten Hills là một bước đi khác biệt nhẹ so với phong cách đương đại thường thấy của HAS – không còn đường nét đô thị, cũng không có hình học cấp tiến – mà thay vào đó là một ngôn ngữ nhẹ nhàng, ẩn nhẫn và tĩnh lặng hơn. Chính sự khác biệt này lại trở thành lợi thế, mở ra chiều sâu mới cho tư duy thiết kế của HAS.

Hiện tại, các giai đoạn tiếp theo đang được triển khai: khu thiền viện, không gian lưu trú, hành lang nghệ thuật và cảnh quan hành hương. Trong từng bước đi tiếp theo, HAS vẫn đóng vai trò trung tâm trong việc gìn giữ tinh thần, dẫn dắt thiết kế và chuyển hóa triết lý thành trải nghiệm.

Samten Hills không chỉ là nơi để đến – mà là nơi để trở về bên trong chính mình.

Tucked away in the highlands of Lâm Đồng, Samten Hills is a rare spiritual complex – a place where Buddhism, nature, and architecture converge in serene form. Initiated by Venerable Sonam Wangchuk Rinpoche, a revered master of Vajrayāna Buddhism, the project embodies the vision of creating a Tibetan-inspired meditative sanctuary in the heart of Vietnam.

HAS Architecture serves as the lead design studio, working closely with the spiritual leaders and dedicated investors — from conceptual sketches to full spatial realization.

The project unfolds in multiple phases. Phase 1 has been completed, marked by the inauguration of the Great Vajrayāna Stupa, which has officially set a Guinness World Record as the largest solid bronze stupa in the world.

Architecture at Samten Hills follows the philosophy of “the meaningful void”, where light, materials, and terrain are choreographed to evoke inner stillness. The structures take a humble stance: rammed earth walls, native sloped roofs, rough stone, and solid wood allow the buildings to dissolve into the landscape.

Interestingly, Samten Hills represents a subtle departure from HAS’s usual urban and experimental aesthetic. Here, the language is quieter, more contemplative. And yet, this contrast has proven to be a strength — expanding HAS’s design voice into new emotional and spiritual territory.

Future phases are now underway — including meditation halls, retreat lodges, artistic pathways, and pilgrimage landscapes. Throughout, HAS remains at the heart of the design process, safeguarding the project’s essence while transforming philosophy into built form.
